The kitchen garden at No.1 is a pioneer project in the city and an attraction for many keen city growers who are embracing new trends in growing your own food. Last year the raised bed supplied an abundant crop of heritage variety potatoes and plenty of fresh greens were picked for filling in steak sandwiches and healthy salads. What better than knowing that the mint in your mojito is freshly picked from the patio, and not flown half way round the world? The fresh raspberries were a bit hit in deserts and guests delighted in sneaking the odd strawberry straight from the plants. This year the over-wintering garlic is on it's way up and what is now a wall of berry bushes promises some tasty sweets from the kitchen. Rhubarb is already a bit hit on the breakfast menu. All organically grown and tended by fully trained passionate gardeners, this garden is a real little oasis that keeps on giving.
